2006 Dodge Ram 2500 SLT equipped with the highly sought-after 6-speed manual transmission. This heavy-duty pickup blends legendary durability with classic styling and true driver engagement. If youre looking for a truck that works as hard as you do, this Ram 2500 delivers.
Under the hood sits the proven 5.9L Cummins Turbo Diesel inline-six, paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox that gives you full control over power delivery and towing performance. The Cummins engine is known for its long-lasting reliability, impressive torque, and straightforward mechanical design. Whether youre hauling equipment, towing a trailer, or simply cruising the highway, this truck provides strong, consistent performance.
The 2006 model year is especially desirable among diesel enthusiasts. It represents the final production years of the legendary 5.9L Cummins before emissions equipment became more complex in later generations. That makes this truck appealing to buyers who value durability, ease of maintenance, and proven engineering.
This Ram 2500 SLT trim offers a comfortable and functional interior with seating for up to six passengers (depending on configuration). The cabin features durable cloth seats, power windows and locks, cruise control, air conditioning, and a user-friendly layout. The SLT package adds chrome exterior accents and upgraded interior touches that give the truck a clean, refined appearance while maintaining its rugged character.
Built on a heavy-duty frame with solid front and rear axles, the Ram 2500 is engineered to handle demanding workloads. Its suspension and braking systems are designed for stability under load, making it ideal for towing campers, work trailers, livestock trailers, or boats. With proper equipment, these trucks are known for impressive towing capabilities and payload capacity.
Exterior styling is bold and unmistakable, with Dodges signature crosshair grille and muscular body lines. The trucks stance reflects its heavy-duty capability while still being practical enough for daily driving. Whether on the job site, farm, or open highway, this Ram commands attention.
The 6-speed manual transmission is increasingly hard to find and highly valued among enthusiasts. It offers greater control, enhanced driving engagement, and long-term durability. For drivers who prefer shifting their own gears and maximizing diesel torque, this configuration is a standout.
Overall, this 2006 Ram 2500 SLT is an excellent choice for anyone seeking a reliable, powerful, and increasingly collectible heavy-duty diesel truck. It represents a time when trucks were built with simplicity, strength, and longevity in mind.

Love my truck
By Donna | on Tuesday, February 18, 2025
I've been told several times I need to get a newer truck because this one is so "old". I refuse! Standard transmission, diesel and the ONLY trouble I've ever had with it is the 4wd transfer case giving out. This transfer case is extremely light weight for the torque the back end has. I've already gone through 2 cases and it's ready for a third. I use mine to pull a 3-horse live-in trailer on dirt roads into the mountains, so I do use the 4wd often. Until this truck gives out completely, I will not replace it with a higher priced, inferior model. I don't care how old it gets.… - 5.0

Well-maintained great truck. I bought it with 170,000 miles. Took my son racing all over the country. And have replaced the water pump. Just a very bulletproof truck… - 5.0
Bought new changed oil and fluids on regular basis
By mike in IL. | on Wednesday, September 25, 2019
Bought new changed the oil and fluids on a regular basis, I've driven it 240,000 plus miles and still driving it ever day, long bed 4x4 automatic 4 door two tone blue over silver. 2019 body has holes rusting through. this truck was never garaged always in the weather, rarely washed, maybe once a year. The driver seat on outer edge wore off the foam and cloth, chrome covering on bumper wrinkled up for some reason(looks bad) a lot of rust spots. With all of this said: I would today go start up my truck and drive it 2000 miles that is more than half way across the United States and not hesitate. I still don't believe it would let me down. It has been a great truck. I have a hard time looking at another, they are so high priced. I could buy a rental home for less, & it will go up in value. My ole truck is still running, so I'm driving it.…
